Blacksmith's Wedding
IMG_0451

This is a wedding cake stand I made for my wife for our wedding.

It is 38” tall and covers a 32” diameter area at the base. There are over 120 forge welds and the legs are held to the cake rings by tennons. With the exception of an oxy/actel torch to adjust things during assembly, no modern power tools were used to make it. I also forged up a matching wedding-cake knife with a pattern-welded blade and matching flower/leaf theme in the pommel. Time to make the stand was about 42 hours and 16 hours for the knife.

The goblets are cast of bronze and were made by my friend Kevin Beckham.

My wife Cynthia and the proud owner of the cake stand.
